The time is now to move forward together. Our campaign brings realistic solutions that make it possible to improve prosperity for all, protect Sudbury and create a place we can be proud to call home.
Today, I would like to speak to about my plan to Protect Sudbury, as one of 3 parts to my Plan 180. I have a platform of policies that bring urgent progress and long-term solutions that can turn around Sudbury within 180 days on the things that improve public safety and a more vibrant quality of life.
Better Support for First Responders in Sudbury
My plan better protects senior and families that call 911 by increasing support for first responders in the city. Sudbury needs to support CUPE to lower response times, improve workplace wellness and make a sustainable work environment for paramedics & police so that when you call 9-1-1, you’ll receive a service that exceeds provincial standards.
Improve Bylaw Response Times
My plan also protects the budget by looking for alternatives that reduce the number of calls to by-law, questioning the hire of two additional by-law officers and improving the response time for more serious complaints. One important change could involve upgrading our online complaint system, tracking who is calling and its level of urgency to make sure that by-law officers can focus on the serious problems rather than not bogged down by multiple reports of a low-urgency issue.
Enhance School Zone Safety
Heavy traffic in neighborhoods like Lo-Ellen Park creates chaos and dangerous situations for pedestrians and motorists. My plan protects parents and families by clearly identifying school zones and strengthening protocols so you can feel confident your kids will return home safely from school each day.
I`ll be releasing more videos each week to expand on my policies! You can learn more about my campaign & what I believe in at downtownderekyoung.com. Stay informed on what`s happening in the community through our Facebook page, and I look forward to becoming your Ward 10 councillor on October 26!
